seven days, seven dollars

40% of Cambodians live on about $1 per day.

In the world, about 1.4 billion people live on about $1 per day.

How much do you spend on food every day?

CHALLENGE:

For 7 days, April 4-10, spend only $1 per day on food.

Here in Phnom Penh, our students and we will take all of the money we save together and make food to give to hungry people on the streets and in the slums. For example, if you usually spend $20 per week on food, during this week you can spend $7 on food and give $13 to buy food for people.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

-To think about the money we spend every day and to feel some feelings
that poor people have

-To raise awareness about the poor

-To raise money to support hungry families. We want to show love to
the hungry people in Phnom Penh, and in cities all over the world.

Will you consider joining us too? We know that it’s harder to eat and live off of a dollar a day in North America, but we believe that you could do it if you were intentional. Even in Cambodia, we know that every person’s situation is different, so we ask our friends to respond to the challenge based on their personal convictions. For example, one could choose to commit to $1 per meal. Our main purpose is to intentionally consider the money we spend on food.

There are far too many people who have no choice but to think about it every day.

Whether through participation or prayer, we’d appreciate your involvement and support! Let us know if you have any questions about this project, or any encouraging words for our Cambodian friends involved.
